I like Mondays. They are my reset day. It is like getting a fresh start for the week. I get back on track after the weekend. BUT...
...sometimes a deeper reset is needed and can't wait until Monday. That was my experience this week. Saturday came and I needed to take a day to reset myself.
This can happen for a variety of reasons. I know for me that it means that I have overextended myself in some way. Sometimes it occurs if I have had a lot of external contact, worked with a number of clients, or have neglected taking care of me. It could have been also being a full moon, energetically, I needed to refuel. There can be any number of things that can effect us.
This reset showed up as a day where it was difficult to get motivated to do the things I had planned. I know that the more I resist taking the time to reset myself, the harder it becomes and the more I judge myself. And all the "shoulds" and should-nots" start to show up-
"You know Mary, you really should be... cleaning, taking a walk, finishing your project... or You shouldn't even think about taking a nap, a bath, eating that food, watching that movie..."
When these thoughts start to show up then I clearly need a day to reset with rest, I have found it easiest to surrender to taking the time for me without any judgment. I also know that if I do, I'll be ready for the next day.
We are at the beginning of new month and a month where Spring is coming. While I appreciate the Winter season, I do love the springtime and look forward to new life bursting through in nature. It may be a good time for you to have a reset time as you transition to the new season.
If you are like me, you may struggle with being able to feel ease about taking the time you need for you. I have had to work through the guilt of taking a day of just being, and not being obligated to do much. I can remember being called lazy if I wasn't doing something productive. What I have since learned is that my reset days are absolutely productive as they provide me with the space for mental health that is so vital.
